Lecture DOS reflection.
I really enjoyed today's lecture. Once again, I found the material really engaging as the time flew by. I found the list of identifiers extremely genuine. Personally, I use gender, age, relationship status, socio-economic status, physical, mental and emotional abilities, activities, personas, tastes and to identify my own self. I am a victim of this world. Going upon this integration idea, my favorite artist of the day was Anne Noggle. I found her artwork to be extremely powerful in it's feminist voice and calm manner. One of her pieces that really stood out to me was her Self Portrait with her dog in hand, shirtless. She stands so strong as a woman, embracing her natural form and displaying it to the world. Being somewhat insecure myself (confession) I felt empowered by her pictures and the beauty I found in the statements. I also found her piece Myself at 7:00AM insanely moving. An identifier by the world as an barren woman. Props to you Anne Noggle! I also really liked Cindy Sherman's Untitled Film Still series. It kind of brought together my love for the beauty of film and photography in a way I have not witnessed before. I liked the fact that she thought of a story in her head and played the part she felt fit, yet any viewer of her artwork would have to create their own internal story.
