Documentation..

This week in class we had two major assignments.  The first was the Nexus post commenting upon the April fools edition.  I thought it was really fun to get involved with school efforts with this assignment and dig our hands into some sort of refute.  I chose to write about a fake protest that was going to take place for Floatopia! Unfortunately I did not receive any comments on that one.  I did not make it very believable, but I did have fun with it!  Floatopia did end up happening and hopefully everyone was safe.  Although I can not respond to comments, I do want to respond to the assignment in itself.  I really hope we do something like the only in iv idea brought up in class.  I feel this class does have the potential to make statements or public announcements in creative ways and I hope we continue to be involved!  Secondly, our next assignment was to do something in public that we would not normally do.  Unfortunately, I think I miss understood this assignment a bit.  I did one of my normal day activities, vacuuming, in the grocery store.  However, when the in class presentations were given, I noticed a lot of my peers did something to make a statement, not something they necessarily do everyday.  So, I want to talk about some of the projects I really liked, my apologies for not remembering exactly who gave each presentation.  I really liked Alyssa's project, where she took her makeup wipes into public and wiped off her makeup.  I think a lot of focus in girl's minds today are about appearance and the need to be something (beautiful/flawless by using makeup).  I really like the fact that she does not wear makeup everyday and chose to make this statement.  Another project I really liked was the boy (sorry couldnt find the documentation on the blog) who sat with people sitting alone in the dinning commons.  Sometimes I feel really bad for those who sit alone often (which is something I noticed when I lived in the dorms) and want to invite people to sit with me, but never have the courage, which is kind of ironic.  I think he should have taken his head phones off and started a conversation, pushing him further out of his comfort zone and opening up to someone who might have needed it.  Anyways, good week! Another to come...
