Lecta.

Today's lecture was pretty fun, I really enjoy when we watch videos in class.  In particular, I absolutely loved the "My Father's Lunch".  One aspect that made it really special was the lack of cuts, no editing at all.  It really gave it a real effect that made everything the father was expressing very genuine and blatant.  I thought it was so humorous because my father has specific rituals he participates in as well that make me laugh.  I love the idea of this short documentary-like film.  Mendoza finds his father's little sayings and rituals humorous and expels that on the viewer without saying it.  All he had to do was show this little short and we understood.  I loved it and found it inspiring. As well as being inspired by this video, I really enjoyed Sally Mann's work.  I found the portraits of her children absolutely stunning and loved the quality of the black and white.  Being able to document her children's lives in such an artistic expression provides something really magical and sentimental for the viewer. I liked how Kip provided some quotes from her daughter Jessie Mann as well.  It is good to know the children are supportive of their mother's beautiful work as well.  Lastly I thought it was really interesting to finally get to see some of Kip's work.  I love the theme of  "Personal Narrative".  There is so much in my life and so many people that bring wonderful things to light for me that I would love to express these values in some sort of artform.

My fav Sally Mann of the day, "Shiva at Whistle Creek"
