This week work is personal space!! Here is Britta and mines documentation.

Michael's Personal Space

At first, I didn't read Michael's description of his personal space project.  So when I started watching the video I was kind of confused about what he was doing and why he was fighting with his girlfriend so much! But then I read it and actually found it really funny and interesting, she did a really good job of pestering and I thought she was funny.  I think it could have been more effective if each interview with each person was not as long, like if it was much more sparatic with a lot of different people and Michael edited together the funny parts.  But good job!!

Concerns and fears ahah

I definitely think this was the perfect first art class for me to take to start out the major with because I overcame the first initial fears I had with art in itself.  This fear was the lacking of confidence I had in my own artwork and it felt really good to let it go and face crit over and over again to get used to it. It ended up being really comfortable once I got to know my classmates and I am so happy I had Kip as a teacher and Desiree as a TA.  I definitely think I have grown in the process of taking this course.  I think a lot of it was learning about myself this year and developing who I want to be and who I am as a person.  I really took advantage of the opportunities this class offered me this quarter and tried to push each assignment to its greatest potential.  Overall I think this was an amazing class everyone should take!!!!

Art Courses

If Desiree taught these courses, I would totally take the Beyond the Studio and Artist as Activist one!! I think it would be really interesting to work with environment and location as a factor to response videos.  But I would definitely be most interested in the Artist as Activist one.  Not only would this class give me a chance to learn about different activist that have creatively expressed their opinons on different issues, but it would give me an opportunity to do it for myself on campus.  I love doing art for my own pleasure and self contentment, but I would also like to experience it on a different level, for something.  I have a couple things in mind that I would totally love to express through art and doing it for a class would definitely be something that interests me.  Hopefully you get accepted Desiree and these courses are taught!!

Thurs: My personal space

Today Britta and I did our personal space project.  WE HAD SO MUCH FUN.  Who: Britta and I dressed up as indie/gypsy/somewhat fortune tellers.  We were basically connectors with the spiritual world and the driving force in one's persona.  What: We set up a booth with all of our calming and connecting instruments.  We had personal paintings of mine I did when I felt reflective, many stones, such as cellonite that truly feels it has magical dense when you hold it, jingles, sage (clears your outer space and focuses you- fire element), eucalyptus (clears your outer space and focuses you- water element) and more!  My favorite were what I mainly worked with at our center, the fairy cards.  The fairy cards focused on a specific aspect of one's life or a general message from the fairies to an individual and seemed to pertained to our visitors lives! When: during class time, 9:00-10:50.  Where: right next to Hssb, we liked the tree and curbside aura.  Why: In terms of personal space, it was kind of contrasting because the fairy cards and all of the connectors to the spiritual world were very personal to the individual and their relationship with the fairies, but had an interesting contrast placing it on campus in the center of chaos.  Also everyone was stressed with finals week coming so it was interesting to see how everyone responded.  In terms of reception, we had a lot of visitors and interactions and it seemed as though the class was happy with our set up, which was reassuring of our hard work. We had a lot of fun and the time went fast.  Documentation to come with the documentation post!
